In the past few decades, I have attended more consultations, missions conferences, think tanks and missions roundtables and consultations than I can count.
These usually involve travel, staying in hotels, and long days of workshops and seminars among an ocean of people, most whom I have neve met before. Since one of the objectives of attending these events is to find new people to join the tentmaking movement and to encourage others to attend our courses it is vital to connect with the right people. How does one do that? Time for meeting new people is limited to meal and coffee breaks.
I was attending the Pentecostal European Mission consultation in Romania for the first time. Seeing all the people in crowded rooms made me realize that I needed to hear from God. I was standing in the hallway during a coffee break and sighed to the Lord: Help me meet the right people! As I looked up a man was walking toward me. I greeted him and we had a very short but joyful time together. But long enough that this led to him coming to our course in Spain where he caught the vision of becoming a tentmaker mobilizer. When he returned home, he joined together with some missions minded people and coordinated the first ever tentmaking course in Czech Republic soon afterward. (One of my favourite course venues ever!)
Today, he continues to promote tentmaking in the region and is the catalyst for the first ever course in Slovakia later this Fall. Check here for dates: www.tentmaking.today/events
