When Tent International turned 20 in November last year, the organization embarked on a 20-week prayer journey. More than 100 people got to hear powerful testimonies from around the world when the end of the campaign was celebrated just before Easter.
“As direct answers to your prayers, God has opened doors for the Gospel during the campaign,” shared a tentmaker from the Caribbean who studies in Eastern Europe.
“In this time of prayer, God put me in touch with a young lady. Even if I did not get to share much about Jesus with her, she got a desire to come to my church. Not much later she accepted Christ,” shared the student who was the first one to go as a tentmaker from her nation. She now has a strong desire to start a Tent branch in the country that God has led her to.
Evidence of God’s faithfulness
Tent’s online celebration gathered 100 people from around the world. The Caribbean student’s testimony was one of many. In several ways the gathering evidenced how God is faithful and answers prayers. One lady from Brazil, who lives in Asia, shared how Covid 19 has hindered her from having contact with other people. Her desire to share Jesus with others has however remained strong. Those who took part in Tent’s campaign, prayed for open doors for the gospel.
“During these 20 weeks, I got great talks with people about Jesus,” shared the young woman.
Marriage and travel
Her story was followed by other testimonies about open doors for the gospel and about marriage, exams, new friendships, financial blessings, and small miracles that enabled people to move to where God wanted them to be despite lockdowns and travel restrictions.
The program also contained greetings from several of the directors in the eight national Tent branches around the world. Deepa Celine Theresa, who heads Tent India, reminded people of the need for reaching the unreached people groups.
“As you know, more than one third of the world’s unreached people groups live in India. Our dream is to see these unreached peoples being reached by Christian workers, students and businesspeople who actively work to expand God’s kingdom in all sectors and professions. During the prayer campaign God has opened doors to new churches and congregations. We are very happy that we can now equip more people to go. India is also receiving many tentmakers from abroad. You can be one of them,” challenged Tent India’s director.
New leaders and new work
Tent’s international director, Steinar Opheim, shared how God during the prayer campaign has built a foundation that will help Tent expand its work.
“Organizations and churches in two nations in Asia want to run the GO Equipped course. This is exciting. Two organization have also contacted us to ask for help in their strategic planning of new work in nations where the Christians are under pressure. God has in addition sent us new leaders. We have also been able to recruit and train several new mentors who will follow up people as they are on their tentmaker journeys. This all increases our capacity for recruiting, training and sending more people, and thus for reaching further with the gospel.”
